Job summary:

To assist the Senior Pastor in carrying out the vision for worship within the church by providing excellent leadership in the areas of worship. The Worship Pastor will have the summary job of helping our people grasp God’s great heart for worship, leading them to respond appropriately to God’s magnificence. 


Description of Worship Responsibilities:

  1. Articulate vision, goals and strategies, using a team approach, for FBC WP to put in place to develop a “Worship mindset” that permeates our ministry.
  2. Employing a team approach, gather a team to develop and execute worship experiences that will inspire genuine worship.
  3. Ensure that existing ministries (i.e. choir, ensemble, band, sound booth, lyrics, etc.) have the supervision, resources, vision, direction necessary for healthy ministry.
  4. Direct the planning, organizing, conducting and evaluating of the church music program, including choirs, praise teams and other vocal and instrumental groups. 
  5. To suggest and recruit quality, passionate and discerning people to serve in the Worship Ministry and to lead the Worship Ministry by shepherding, educating, team building, evaluating our present ministry, and orchestrating the strategic goal setting process.
  6. To be the “chief cheerleader” for Worship at FBC WP by staying current in Worship trends, promoting Worship opportunities to FBC membership, representing the cause of Worship at FBC WP organizational meetings, identifying potential future worship ministry leaders as well as providing them counsel and prayer.
  7. Make every effort, as far as it depends on us, to maintain strong, healthy connections and partnership with our Baptist Association and its churches.
  8. Prepare an annual music and worship budget for approval. Administrate approved budget. 
  9. Maintain music library, materials, supplies, musical instruments and other equipment. 
  10. Arrange and provide music for weddings, funerals, special events and other church- related activities upon request. 
  11. Assist the pastor in planning all worship services. 
  12. Appreciate volunteers individually via personal communication. 
  13. May perform other related pastoral duties as needed and assigned by the Senior Pastor.
